CON.TXT 2020 is three weeks away!

Here are some technical details on how it's going to work.

First, you will need to create an account on Conline, a new online convention platform. Conline is where the schedule, vidshows, and links to panels will live. After creating your account, you will need to join CON.TXT on Conline even if you're already registered for the con. This is a totally new platform and there's no automatic transfer of your registration.
If you are not registered for the con and would like to register, follow the steps in this post as well!

Please create your Conline account at least a few days before the con and ideally sooner.

To create a Conline account and join CON.TXT:

1. Go to https://conline.club/login/ and click on the social network of your choice. Yes, you must connect a Google, Twitter, or Facebook account to use Conline.
2. Go to https://contxt.conline.club/ and click the "Join" link on the top right.

Please make sure to enter your CON.TXT badge name so everyone knows what to call you, and confirm your email address so we know where to send your Discord invite!

That's it! You're done! Note that registrations have to be processed manually so don't be alarmed that you don't see content immediately.

Conline is still in development, so please let us know if you run into any issues and we'll help you troubleshoot. :)

Other stuff you'll need

CON.TXT will be centralized around a new Discord server. Invitations will go out in the week prior to the con. Discord has a browser version, but you may want to install the app ahead of time.

Panel discussions will be held via Zoom meetings. You may want to install the Zoom app ahead of time as well, but again this is not necessary. We will use Jitsi Meet as a backup option in case Zoom collapses on the day of the con.

Silly question, but: I don't actually see anywhere on the conline site to confirm my email once I've created the account, or to enter a badge name other than my username for the whole site - is that the same thing here?

You would need to change your username for the whole site to your badge name. And unfortunately there isn't an option right now to change your email address - I'm looking into it with the developer and will let you know if that changes!

Probably another silly question, but as I metaphorically "kick the wheels" of the account, I can't seem to find anywhere to list additional info like other platforms I'm on, fannish interests, etc. Is that something that I can do once my registration has been approved (which...I'm guessing I'll know if that happens by it saying I'm registered?)

Hi, thanks for asking! Right now Conline isn't built out to allow users to do that (it's a very new platform), but when the con gets started, you'll be able to introduce yourself in the CON.TXT Discord server.

It defaulted my time zone to Europe/London, and while the US did come up when I searched for United States, it wasn't letting me choose it. I'm assuming our time zones will be important once the schedule is setup, yes?

Interesting, thanks for reporting that. It's supposed to allow you to change your timezone. Let me look into it and try to figure it out.

(We're not going to be relying heavily on the timezone functionality so it's not critical.)

Interesting. It should be the account that you're currently logged into in your browser. Could you try again and report back if you're still having issues?

Hmm, not sure what happened but you're already in the members list so there's nothing else you need to do! I'll process your registration shortly and you'll be able to access the schedule. :)

Do you have any information you can share on who is running conline.club? It feels like it's a fan passion project, which is super cool (especially so fast!!), and I do trust you all not to work with a scam! But I have a long-running principle of not giving info to websites that don't have at least some kind of "who we are" information, and I can't find anything like that for conline, even direct confirmation of whether it's fan-run or not. Was it developed by the VidUKon people?

Hi! Try going to the home page at https://conline.club/ and clicking your name at the right of the menu bar. Under "Conline dashboard" you should have the option to change your badge name.

Hi! I was trying to register (sorry, last minute I know), but when go to https://contxt.conline.club/ there's no "Join" link in the top right of the page. I was able to log into conline just fine, but no link is visible. Is there something else I need to do?

Hm, not sure what happened (perhaps the website was updated and the Join link went somewhere else) but you're listed as having joined! So no need to do anything yet - your confirmation will be processed later today, at which point you'll be able to look at schedule details. You'll receive an email when that's done.
